The Latest Birth Control Devices And Methods
By Dakota Caudilla, Thu Dec 8th

Without a doubt, even as we speak, there are many differenttypes of devices and methods being developedtoday. is a very important part of family planningand with the rate of unwanted pregnancies and occurrence ofteenage sex, the many different types of devicesand methods should be introduced as early on to teens aspossible.

For example, there's the barrier method of whichincludes devices like diaphragms, cervical caps and shields thatultimately works by covering up the cervix so that sperm cannotenter the uterus during sexual intercourse. When the spermcannot enter the uterus, the egg cannot be fertilized by thesperm. The barrier method is not 100% foolproof, although noneof the methods and devices are ever 100% secureso, in order to achieve its full potential, usage of the barriertype of should be used together with an effectiveform of spermicidal application which kills off sperm thatenters the body. Spermicidal applications are available invarying types, i.e., cream, foam or gel form.

The most common and most effective form of remainsto be the hormonal types of which includes thevarying types of pills, injections and patchesavailable in the market. They are excellent ways for birthcontrol but some people are not able to use the oralcontraceptive type of or prefer not to use them.In that case, they may have to

use other forms of birth controlin the market.

Talking about spermicides, there is something called thecontraceptive sponge that is somewhat like a foam or sponge thatone inserts into the body of the female to cover the cervixarea. The foam contains sperm-killing chemicals that kill ofsperms that enter the body. Not only do contraceptive spongesblock the sperm from entering the cervix, it also doubles up asspermicide, working as a 2-in-1 device.

In recognizing the need for an urgent or emergency birth controldevice, there is something called the 'emergency contraceptive'that is available off the counter in most pharmacies, hospitalsand clinics. The emergency device is useful towomen who forgot to take their oral birth control, is forced tohave unprotected sex, or used methods but it didnot work (condom breaking). The emergency works bystopping the ovaries from releasing eggs, stopping fertilizationof the egg when the sperm has entered the body and it also stopsthe fertilized egg from attaching itself to the wall of theuterus.
