The Jeep King of the Mountain Series Competition has started

The Jeep King of the Mountain Series Competition has officially opened today. Official race schedule for the grand finale of the and Snowboarding World Professional Championships has also been announced.

Snowboarding superstars -- the great Lindsey Jacobellis and phenomenon Casey Puckett, together with Ophelie David has joined the Jeep King of the Mountain competition and will lead a lineup of Olympians, World Champions and National Champions to Telluride Ski Resort in Colorado to choose the winner who will covet the crown as World Professional Champion.

A sad report has arrived from the camp of JKOM Series Leader Seth Wescott saying that he cannot join the Jeep King of the Mountain competition due to an accident that happened while racing in a World Cup that resulted to his broken arm. Seth has sent out his apology to the organizers of the Telluride competition and to the public awaiting his participation in the said event.

With Seth out of the competition, Nate Holland of USA becomes the new series leader and puts Drew Neilson of Canada and Defending Champion, Graham Watanabi of USA in the hunt for the title. Nate Holland is a 2006 Winter Olympian and recent Winter X Games gold medalist and with Seth out of his way he will probably grab the professional snow sports’ most coveted honor.

But of course since Holland is not the only champ participating he will be competing with many challengers which include third-ranked Drew Neilson of Canada, 2006 Winter Olympian with six World Cup titles, a Continental Cup Championship, and record of gold, silver, and bronze medals from the Winter X games. Another champ competing is the defending World Professional Champion and 2006 Winter Olympian Graham Watanabe of Park City, Utah. An Austrian Champ Mario Fuchs, 2006 Winter Olympian and Austrian National Champion will also take part in the competition. There is also a new addition to the dizzying list of champs and its

For the women’s snowboarding category, Stratton Mountain, Vt.’s Jacobellis will have to avoid deep fields while down the snowy mountains of Telluride. Jacobellis has won the first two races of the season but with the dangerous points in Telluride, there’s a little margin for error even for champions. On the second place is Julie Pomagalski of France who has won two French national championships, a world championship and nine World Cup titles throughout her career. Another notable participant is Doresia Krings of Austria who is a 2006 Winter Olympian and two-time defending World Professional Champion. Tanja Frieden of Switzerland is a snowboard-cross gold medalist from the 2006 Winter Olympics will also join. Marni Yamada a member of the US Snowboard team is also included and to round up the roster is Joanie Anderson of Soth Lake Tahoe, California who defeated Jacobellis and won a gold medal at the Winter X Games.

For the men category the results are as follows:
